Patricia Cash Rowe

Patricia “Patty” Cash Rowe, age 85, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. She was born November 24, 1937 in Berkeley, California to Gordon Anderson Jury and Virginia Gladys Morris.

Patty leaves many family members behind to cherish her memory, her previous Spouse, Merlin K. Niehaus, Father of Daughter, Melody Niehaus Presley of Gatesville, TX; Granddaughter, Kristen Niehaus of San Antonio, TX; as well as Granddaughter and Grandson, Paige and Patrick Presley of Waco, TX.

Patty is preceded in death by her Husband, William “Bill” Rowe Jr.; Father, Gordon Anderson Jury; Mother, Virginia “Ginger” Gladys Jury; and Brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Jury.

Patty graduated from Childersburg High School in 1954. She went on to achieve her Bachelor of Arts from Mississippi Southern College in 1960 and her Master of Science from Louisiana State University & Agricultural & Mechanical College in 1969.

She worked as a civil servant on Lackland and Randolph Brooks Air Force Bases, as well as Fort Hood Army Base over her career of 22 years. As a librarian, she served to further the knowledge and research of service members and their families. She received an Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award for 11 years and a Certificate of 13 years of faithful and devoted Federal Civilian Service on the occasion of retirement from employment with the United States Air Force. In addition, she received an Achievement Award from Ft. Hood and an Appreciation Award from Randolph Brooks.

Patricia was a life-long Christian Scientist. She was a member of the Mother Church in Boston, MA as well as the First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Antonio, TX. She devoted her life to helping others by sharing her understanding of the practical power of God's love to bring newness and renewal to every aspect of human life. She also served in all aspects of Christian Science in Mobile, AL for the First Church of Christ, Scientist including volunteering in the nursery, staffing the reading room, and teaching children in Sunday School. Patty also worked at Cedars, Christian Science Summer Camps, in MO.

Patty possessed a deep passion for the arts and was an accomplished painter who specialized in landscapes and seascapes, though she was skilled in various media. She displayed and sold many of her paintings in multiple venues.

Patty was known throughout her life for her compassion, dedication, integrity, generosity, sense of humor, and humility; and was an inspiration to all who encountered her.

She will be remembered by her family as a pillar of strength, comfort, and wisdom, and a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She will be remembered by her community as one of the most generous, involved, and forward-thinking ladies of her time.

To quote Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer of Christian Science, when she wrote: “To-day my soul can only sing and soar. An increasing sense of God’s love, omnipresence, and omnipotence enfolds me. Each day I know Him nearer, love Him more, and humbly pray to serve Him better. Thus seeking and finding (though feebly), finally may we not together rejoice in the church triumphant?” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany, p. 174)

A visitation for Patricia will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a funeral service to start at 6:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A committal service will occur Monday, February 27, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
