The good Lord has called on our beloved father, Oscar Lozano Caceres, to rise into heaven with him and into everlasting life in the early morning hours of Monday, September 16th, 2024, at the age of 88 years young. With his wife by his side and surrounded by his loved ones, he passed away peacefully at home.
Dad was born on February 3rd, 1936, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He is the eldest son of 8 children born to Raul Rodriguez Caceres and Elisa Lozano de Caceres. Although having a birth defect that left his right arm underdeveloped, it never was an obstacle for him. With determination and ingenious creativity in finding solutions around obstacles, he would be able to do anything as if he had two hands instead of just one. In his mid-20’s, he lived in Corpus Christi, Texas where he made a living working on a shrimp boat. It was while working at a shrimp packing company, he met and found the love of his life, Amada. What started as a friendship became 63 years of marriage. They then moved to San Antonio, Texas and have stayed here since. Among the various jobs he held, for several summers, together they would pack up the station wagon and load up the kids to head towards Michigan state to work the crop fields, picking the season’s fruits and vegetables. Dad found his calling by working as a mechanic. He found himself a permanent job working as a jet turbine engine mechanic for a subsidiary company of Kelly AFB. Dad enjoyed tinkering with anything that was broken or just thought it would work best if he modified it. He also loved planting fruit trees and would go to great lengths to protect his orange, lime, peach, avocado and pecan trees from anything that would try to eat his crop, especially the neighborhood squirrels! Unfortunately, the snow of 2021 ruined the majority of his plants.
Dad, you will be dearly missed but you will always be in our hearts. We Love You!
He is survived by his wife, Amada; 2 daughters, 4 stepchildren and (sons-in-law), Esmeralda (Jesse), Rosemary (Martin), Raquel, Virginia, Reyes, and Rafaela (Toby); grandchildren, Andres, Diego, Vincent, Victoria, Christopher, Reyes Jr., and Sandra. He was fortunate enough to enjoy his 4 great-grandchildren, Luca, Gabriella, Ada, and Ewa.
He is preceded by death of his grandson, Roman, daughter-in-law, Gloria, and several of his siblings.
