Octavio Malacara, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest, on December 27, 2012, at the age of 79. He was born in Laredo, Texas to parents Jacinto and Francisca Malacara, on March 22, 1933. Octavio proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a career firefighter for the Fort Sam Houston Fire Department, from 1974 to 1993, and was stationed at Camp Bullis. Octavio will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Octavio was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of over 54 years, Josefina Malacara. He is survived by his daughters, Ana M. Malacara and Marta Malacara (James); sons, Octavio Malacara Jr. (Paula) and Mario Malacara; brothers, Jacinto, Pedro and Antonio Malacara; sisters, Candelaria Lopez, Maria de la Luz Malacara, Fina Palacios, Connie Sierra and Mary Lou Bejarano; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, the following morning at 10:00 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to the service. A Committal Service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
