Mrs. Stephen E. Akers Norma Jeanne passed away peacefully at her home on July 25, 2002. Born in Hominy, Oklahoma on February 26, 1927, Mrs. Akers was married 57 years to Colonel Stephen E. Akers until his death on January 5, 2001. As the wife of a career military officer, Mrs. Akers toured the world and took great delight in the educational opportunity travel affords. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Akers provided a loving and supportive environment for her family and friends. An avid reader, lover of professional Football the Dallas Cowboys, and opera devotee, her interests were varied but specific. The last year of her life was devoted to an intense study of the Old and New Testament and her lifelong sense of the universal good was always apparent. Her last years were spent in El Paso, Texas, where Colonel Akers was a College Professor after his retirement. Upon Colonel Akers death she moved to San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Akers died in God's grace and in His embrace and she was loved, cherished, and admired by all those who knew her. Mrs. Akers is survived by her children, Stephen Charles Akers of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeanne Anne Akers of New York, New York.
