Nanette Kanapi

She married Tim Quinto Kanapi. They were friends first who became penpals when they moved to the States independently. After graduating college at Holy Ghost University in Manila, Nanette made the big move to Manhattan, New York. Meanwhile, Tim had settled in San Antonio, TX after completing his service in the US Navy. Eventually, they made the decision to get married back home in Tuguegarao on May 25, 1975. Soon after, they came back to San Antonio where they laid down roots, giving birth to Kerry, their daughter and a few years later, Patrick, their son. Tim and Nanette were married 48 years.

Nanette was a retired Dietitian. She loved to serve family, friends, and people in general. She had the gift of hospitality, always providing meals, snacks, beverages, and an extra room to guests, friends, and visiting relatives. Her favorite hobbies included frequent shopping trips to Costco, traveling, and regular Zoom or Facetime calls with her sister, Suzette Andrews and their close-knit group of cousins across the States and in the Philippines. Most of all, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially with her two grandchildren, which she helped raise 17 years apart.

Nanette is preceded in death by her dearly beloved sister and best friend Suzette who passed just a short 3-weeks prior. She leaves behind her husband Tim, her daughter Kerry and son-in-law Ira Thompson, her son Patrick and daughter-in-law Michelle Kanapi, and two grandchildren Isaiah Thompson and Quinn Kanapi.

Nanette went home to be with the Lord Jesus on May 18, 2023. She resides in her permanent heavenly residence reunited with Suzette in glory. Until we meet again... we celebrate her homegoing!

A visitation for Nanette will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
