

With heavy hearts but steadfast faith, we announce that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend,Monica, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2025. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, knowing that her journey on earth had fulfilled God’s purpose for her life.
Monica was loved by Parents Benjamin Sr and Nohemi Basquez, Monica's memories, smile and charisma lives on through siblings, Jaclyn (Husband George Valencia Sr), Benjamin Jr (Wife Cristina Basquez) and Ashley (Husband Philip Hasette).
Born on February 4, 1978 in Baytown, TX. Monica graduated from Sterling High School in 1996 and earned a degree in Business Management at Liberty University in 2015. Monica lived a life full of grace, kindness, and unwavering faith. She was the cherished wife of Alfredo Cervantes for 22 beautiful years, a devoted mother to Jonathon, Taylor, Hunter, Dillon and Joshua Cervantes, and a loving grandmother to Luke Cervantes.
Her love for Christ shined through everything she did — Monica’s faith was spread worldwide from missions to the smile on her face. From the way she cared for her family to her involvement in Cornerstone and the countless lives she touched through her acts of kindness and compassion. She was a woman of prayer, a source of comfort, and a beacon of strength for all who knew her. Monica was an ultimate Warrior for God, She fought the good fight and has finished her race, and always kept her Faith.
Monica is now reunited in Heaven with those who have gone before her, including Grandparents Severo Sr and Dominga Basquez, Faustino and Francisca Cerda. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find peace knowing she now rests in the arms of Jesus, where there is no more pain or sorrow — only eternal joy.
A celebration of her life and faith will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10-11am at Vada Hagee Prayer Chapel, Cornerstone Church, 18755 Stone Oak Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78258, with a reception to follow.
