Minnie Garza Spruce was born October 4, 1923 in San Antonio Texas to her parents Joe & Sara Schilling Garza. She was the second youngest of eleven siblings. She was preceded in death by her only grandchild Kimberly Nicole Spruce, sister and best friend Linda Garza, and her other nine siblings. She is survived by her son Lloyd Carroll Spruce and daughter Linda Ann Holcomb, and daughter in law Christine Spruce, as well as many nephews and nieces-Sylvia & Wilt Shaw, Rey & Evelyn, Carlos & Georgia Mercado, Ernie, Michael & Jerry Arredondo. Plus a whole bunch of great-grand nephews and nieces who all loved their Aunt Minnie.
She worked & retired from Universal Bookbindery, San Antonio after 35 years. She ran a machine that before Minnie could only be operated by a man. She took the job because it paid a mans’ wage. She raised her two children with the help of her sister Linda Garza. She was strong, sweet and had very keen sense of humor. She lived on her own until May of this year in the duplex that she shared for almost 50 years with her best friend & sister Linda Garza.
She was treated with great kindness, respect & dignity at the Mystic Nursing Home, San Antonio where she spent her last two months. Minnie Garza Spruce will be long remembered.
Rest in Peace. Minnie Garza Spruce the best mother and friend to many.
