At age 72, Miguel Urbano, a USMC Vietnam Veteran, was granted his wings on November 28, 2021 at his home in Cuero, Texas. A beloved husband to Rosalinda, dear father to Miguel A., Fabian E., Ian R. Abete (Dalia) and Alfonso G. (Susana), grandfather to 5 grandchildren, uncle, son, brother, and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his father Alfonso Urbano, mother Enriqueta Urbano, brothers Luis, Alfonso, Juan, and sister Lourdes; and Ludivina.
Born on October 1, 1949 and raised in Brownsville, he was an avid Texas sports fan, barbecue enthusiast and enjoyed entertaining as well as volunteering for charities. He served with the United States Marine Corp and was granted the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine of the Month (Apr. ‘73), Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Marksman. He was a longtime member of the Brownsville Nite Lions Club. He was loyal, dependable, and compassionate to those in need of love, support and care. However, he was most comfortable watching TV, with a half finished puzzle displayed on a table while he scrolled through Facebook.
His life will be celebrated and remembered at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 on December 20, 5:00 to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be held from 7pm to 8pm that evening. Burial services with full military honors will commence at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm and committal service will occur Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 1:15 pm to 1:45pm at Fort Sam National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.
Pallbearers will be Miguel A. Urbano, Fabian Urbano, Ian Abete, Alfonso Urbano, Andrew Arguellez, Mario Arguellez Jr., Ethan Hotz, Ricky Perez, and Honorary Joe Henry Rodriguez. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to charities dear to Mike.
