SFC Miguel A. Garcia-Rodriguez, U.S. Army (Ret.) went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2012. He was born on January 3, 1950 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Miguel Angel Garcia-Figueroa and Ramona Rodriguez-Negron.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Maria Elvira Figueroa and Aurelia Negron, father Miguel A. Garcia-Figueroa, and step-father Felipe Madera-Silen.
Miguel is survived by his loving wife Sonia Garcia-Roche; three children, Miguel A. Garcia (Deborah), Maria E. Torres (Albert), and Sonimar Villegas (Juan); five grandchildren, Alberto Miguel Torres IV, Dayanara Torres, Nayeli Villegas, Juniel Villegas, and Xiomora Desbazielles; six siblings, Maria M. Garcia, Eduardo Madera (Gladys), Alexander Madera (Celeste), Ogdalia Madera (Fernando), Maritza Madera (Wilson), Marisol Robledo (Waldemar); nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Miguel proudly served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and Operation Just Cause, Panama. After retirement, he worked at Time Warner Telecomm for six years. Miguel took pride in his work and lived his life with integrity and honor. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, grandfather, and friend.
Visitation will be at 6pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 9:30 am, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
