Michael Anthony Nichols completed his journey surrounded by loved ones at home on September 11th 2018 succumbing to pancreatic cancer. His loving wife, Elizabeth Nichols, stood proudly by his side and braced the trials and tribulations that were set forth before them to prepare him for his final ride. Together they fought courageously against all odds and never backed down while showing the world unconditional, inspirational true love that we all admired.
Michael started his journey on this earth on October 28th, 1959, in Toledo, OH. His military career took him to Korea & Alaska, where he served proudly in the US Army from 1976-1979.
In the 1990s he came to the greatest State in America to San Antonio Tx where he made his home. Texas proved to be the greatest State by giving him the opportunity to meet his riding partner for life Elizabeth and took on the role of stepfather to her two children, Cassandra & Christopher. He lived and showed his new family what hard work, perseverance and pure will can provide.
His TX family grew larger through his love for a beautiful motorcycle with a Harley motor. What once was a every few weekend road trip turned into a lifestyle of living life to the fullest and experiencing all of life's gifts. Mike served as a leader and assistant organizer for ACMR group and participated through many charitable events with his wife and friends. Once again showing us the empathy he had for others hiding his heart behind his headstrong personality. Mike was a no-nonsense, live life to the fullest, forceful, yet gentle soul.
He worked for 24 years in the construction industry, including owning his own business giving jobs to those that needed it to help them out. During his career, Michael was able to travel around the country, often taking his wife and his bike to explore God's land. With the wind in his hair and his soul mate hugging tightly, they enjoyed every moment on those long roads while hearing that engine roar.
Michael is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Nichols; his children and their spouses Cassandra Payne and husband,Brent; Christopher Cortez and wife,Lauren and 5 grandkids. His brother, Don Nichols, and 3 sisters with many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the brother we never asked for, Jose Arredondo who stood by his side and supported the family during the journey.
An interment service will be held at Fort Sam Houston national cemetery at 11:15 am on October 5, 2018. A Celebration of Life will follow at VFW Post 8541 located at 2222 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 following service from 12-4. We will rejoice and celebrate life with family and friends with Michael in our hearts and food in our belly.
"A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong. "
