Michael John Gittinger of San Antonio passed away May 26, 2010, at the age of 31. He was born in Livermore, California, to Michael A. and Deborah Gittinger. Michael was a student at St. Mary's University, an Eagle Scout and was a certified rock climbing and scuba diving instructor. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mary Ellen Byrd. Survivors include his parents; his brother, Brian Gittinger and his grandmother, Patricia Gittinger, his uncles, Thomas Gittinger and wife, Patricia; Paul Gittinger and his wife, Mary Mac; and numerous cousins. The family will receive visitors Monday, May 31, 2010, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. Frances McHugh officiating.
