Born in Mason Texas on December 11th, 1933, Merle lived most of her life in San Antonio Texas. She graduated from Alamo Heights High School where she participated in the marching band. Merle loved music. She played the piano beautifully, often for her church and local nursing homes. Her favorites included Christmas carols and old church hymns. An avid reader, Merle explored distant places and forgotten times through her collection of books. Her destination of choice was Scotland. Merle loved to go thrifting, passing that love onto several granddaughters.
Merle had a great love for animals, often taking in abandoned dogs and cats. As a young girl she had a beloved horse, Boots. Merle dedicated many years to the Girl Scouts, serving as a troop leader and district leader, where upon her retirement she was awarded a bronze statue. Outgoing and adventurous, Merle coached several girls softball teams. She was quick witted and intelligent, often debating politics and religion. Her humorous retorts will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace Merle.
You are loved and missed, and will be remembered always.
