Melton Barton Koch, Jr. was born on April 7, 1971 in Corpus Christi, but resided in San Antonio since 1975. He moved on from this world on September 9, 2015, at the age of 44 years. Koch was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, who spent much of his professional and leisure time immersed in the local music scene. Whether it was through hosting programs on college radio, playing in garage bands, or DJing at nightclubs, Bart, as his friends knew him, made an indelible mark on San Antonio that will be felt for years to come. Bart’s other passions included a good plate of curry, the films of Stanley Kubrick, and the Spurs, for which his love was legendary.
He is survived by his mother Sharon Koch, sister Melanie Koch, brother Brian Koch, brother-in-law Gabriel Mendez, nephews Reid and Kristofer Jakob, and step-niece Sarah Mendez.
A celebration of his life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on October 3 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to KSYM 90.1fm at San Antonio College at 1819 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78212 and online at www.ksym.org.
