She is survived by her siblings – Raphael Fox, Judith Fox-Smith, Teresa Fox, Christina Fox-Balli; daughter - Amber Michelle Poole, and grandson, Hunter James Nash.
Maura was born in February, 1959 and grew up in New York, Mexico, San Antonio.
Maura is a Trinity University Alumni 1981 in Videography and Journalism. She was a talented videographer for several San Antonio, Victoria and Corpus Christi news stations: KAUV, KOAT, Recorder Times, Telemundo, Univision, Catholic TV. She also spent a brief time working in Atlanta GA.
In her free time, she was also an avid photographer always spotting the perfect shot. She was a talented seamstress, gardener, DIYer. She always had on hand copies of fashion magazines – Vogue, Glamour or Cosmopolitan.
Her career was cut short by a benign brain tumor in 1996. She loved watching the news to live vicariously through her fellow videographers and quick to point out good shots, missed shots, lack of focus in news stories. She wrote like a third grader and had to learn to read again. Despite her handicaps, she continued doing projects: stained glass, sewing, jewelry, and gardening. She showed courage every day over her shortcomings. If she forgot something simple, her answer was easy “Hey!I I only have 2/3rd's of my brain!” She leaves behind many family, friends and caregivers who shared their lives with her during her many years. She and We are always grateful for the many loving support, helpful caregivers – Sisters of Grace (Sister LaVon), caregivers too many to list.
She had cheated death 3 times : Childhood car/bike accident, College age car accident and the brain tumor. Finally, an aggressive lung cancer took her from us.
She was a fighter to the end.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind & Vision Impaired.
