Mary Lillian (Farmer) Samm long time resident of San Antonio, died on September 29th in Bartlesville, OK where she had been living for the past 4 years. Mrs. Samm was born September 30, 1916 at Sherry, Texas to Robert Lane and Minnie Helen (Benton) Farmer. She moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas in the early 20’s and graduated from Harlandale High School in 1936. Mrs. Samm was known by friends and family as “Bit”. She married Robert D. Samm on June 25th, 1940 in San Antonio where they made their home. Bit and Bob lived several years at Medina Lake and loved riding Indian motorcycles with their many friends. They both loved to travel and spend time at the coast.
Mrs. Samm was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert D. Samm, and her twin sister, Mrs. Vivian Higbee. Mrs. Samm is survived by a niece, Barbara Kay Birmingham; nephew, Gordon Ray Higbee and his wife Laura all of Bartlesville; two cousins, Jerry Oaks and his wife Elena of Greenwood Village, CO. and John Oaks, of San Antonio.
Graveside services will be held at 1:45PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Thursday, October 6th. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Comforting Hands Hospice, 2450 SE Washington, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
