Mary Emma Menke, 92, beloved wife of Major Robert A. Menke, left this world to be with Robert on November 7, 2012. She passed away peacefully in the loving embrace of her daughter, Mary Anne Bramblett, in El Paso, Texas.
She is survived by Mary Anne, husband Coll Bramblett and her son, William A. Menke and wife Marta Menke. She has left behind with love and great hopes for their future, her grandchildren, Christene M. Harms, husband Chad Harms, Robert Kit Bramblett and Collanne S. Bramblett-West and husband, Christopher M. West. The Wests are expecting Mary's first great-grandchild. She was born in Pittsburg, Texas to Willie E. and Mattie Pearl Norvell, née Turnage.
She was extremely proud to be a military wife and lived with her husband while stationed around the world in places such as: Ft. Bliss, Texas; Travis AFB, California; Nouasseur AFB, Morocco, Africa; Cannon AFB, New Mexico; George AFB, California; and other places. When she traveled with her husband to Morocco they took their baby son and she was pregnant with their second child. During World War II, while her husband was flying bombers for the Allied Forces she worked in the shipyards in California--"Rosie the Riveter". Mary was so proud of her husband, Robert who was a veteran of the Korean War as well as World War II. She and her late husband flew planes, hunted and she donated much of her time to Air Force wives volunteer groups. After she lost her husband, she worked for the Civil Service for many years in San Antonio, Texas. She leaves this world loved and cherished.
Graveside services will be held November 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
