Mary Sue Gibbons was born in Montgomery County, TX on May 17, 1924 to Barley W. Hill and Carrie S. Overbay, and passed away on March 24, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. Mary Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She had a full and active life. She was a homemaker, Treasurer of her husband’s independent food distribution business, Certified Real Estate Agent, Certified Childhood Behavioral Specialist, and active in Methodist Women’s Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Gibbons, Sr; mother and father; brothers, Barley E. Hill, L.A. Hill; sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Cuba M. Long, Gladys Pearson; and multiple nephews and great-nephews. Left to treasure her memories are her daughter, Betty S. Northern; son, John H. Gibbons, Jr; grandsons, Christopher R. Jett, Larry W. Northern; granddaughters, Carrie M. Gibbons, Elizabeth Jane Gibbons; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Henrietta Luce, Mildred Ruth Ashworth, Edith Pauline Dunn; brother, August Divan Hill; and multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mary Sue will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
