Mary Alice Correa, age 87, was called to her eternal home by our Savior on September 17, 2010. She was born in San Antonio, TX on February 18, 1923, she was the daughter of Roman H. and Estella Neri. Mary Alice took pleasure in helping others and she surrounded herself with people who shared her passion. She retired from Southwestern Bell with more than 34 years of service, and served as a member of the Bandera Arts Club. She provided admirable service as President of the Ladies Auxiliary Unit #1836 of the local Purple Heart Chapter, she was a dedicated and valued member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department, and loved getting together with her cherished friends from the Lakehills Crafty Ladies Group. Mary Alice was loved by many friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her commitment to God, her family, and her captivating smile. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her son, Roman B. Darnell; brother-in-law and sister, Louie and Gloria Martinez. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph R. Correa; son, Charles E. Darnell; sister, Stella Mae Wilkinson; brother-in-law and sister, Sam And Pinky Neri Sanchez; daughter-in-law, Cecelia Darnell; and cousin, Mitzi Neri; grandchildren, Holly Pirruccello and husband Jason, and Jimed Darnell and wife Kristi; great-grandchildren, Sophia Pirruccello and Hunter S. Darnell; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Pedro Gutierrez at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Cordi-Marian Chapel, 11624 Culebra; and the Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian. Serving as pallbearers will be Louis A. (Lugi) Martinez, Jimed Darnell, Phillip Neri Sanchez, Sam Sanchez III, Ralph Sanchez, and Greg Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason D. Pirruccello, Michael Sanchez, Victor Madrigal Jr., and Ray C. Dunn.
