On April 28, 2020 Mary Louise Clay’s time on earth ended and she returned to her Heavenly Father. Mary was born August 22, 1947 to Felix and Guadalupe Valdez in San Antonio, Texas. Mary was in the TMEA All-State Choir in 1964-65 and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation, Mary began a career in Civil Service. Mary had one son, Douglas Clay of Columbus Ohio. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Felix Valdez and is survived by her son Douglas, granddaughter Alexis Hamilton of Columbus OH, mother, Guadalupe Valdez of Helotes TX, brother Felix (Glenda) Valdez Jr of Huntsville AL, sister Denise (Kenn) Kantola of San Antonio TX, brother Gerry Valdez of Helotes TX along with numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins across Texas.
Mary spent most of her life in San Antonio and Dallas TX, and Columbus OH. While working, she continued her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration in 1990 from Dallas Baptist University. In 2007 she retired after 38 years working in Civil Service for the Department of Defense. Mary enjoyed singing and was an avid studier. When Mary decided it was time to learn something, she dove into her books and took mountains of notes. Mary was, most recently, a member of Congregation Beth Simcha in San Antonio.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Las Colinas of Westover Hills for their exceptional care of Mary in her final year.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for June 13 at 1 P.M. at Crossroads Baptist Church 8300 Tezel Rd. San Antonio TX 78254. If attending, please bring a face mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
