Mary was preceded in death by her husband John Carpenter, and two sons, Lyle and Earl Carpenter. She is survived by her brother Murray Bier, daughter Debra Seidel and dear friend Rick Gates, granddaughter Debbie Riedner, and two great grandsons, Cole and Chase Riedner.
Mary retired from the Federal Housing Administration in 1975 where she spent the next 30 years enjoying life to the fullest as a worldwide traveler with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies of Shrine, and Trinity Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved to square dance, line dance, round dance, and went to the gym daily until the age of 88.
Volunteering was a way of life for Mary. She was a Silver Haired Legislator for eight years, volunteered for the Witte Museum, Majestic Theater, Habitat for Humanity, local elections, and AARP. She spent over 20 years with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief leaving her home and family for extended periods of time to help others.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will truly be missed. I love you Mother. We love you Oma.
A Service of Remembrance will be Saturday, May 11 at 11AM at Sunset North Funeral Home.
