Mary Theresa Parsons Campbell was born May 21, 1912 to Bert Calais and Augusta Nimitz Parsons. She went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the grand age of 101. Mary’s family moved to Kerrville, TX, where Mary graduated from Tivy High School and Draughon’s Business School. She met and married Arthur James Campbell (A.J.) owner of Campbell’s Café in 1933. They moved to San Antonio where they raised their 3 children. Mary worked and retired from Bexar Metropolitan Water District after 20 years of service. Mary and A.J. were avid square dancers and Mary spent many fun hours with friends making crafts for charity. She was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years.
She is survived by her 3 children, Mary Duane Dawson & husband Gene, Glenn Campbell & wife Melba and Frances Campbell; grandchildren, Gene Dawson Jr. & wife Lori, Sam Dawson & wife Laura, Derek Campbell & wife Sheri, Kay Vonne Campbell; great grandchildren, Trey Dawson& wife Meg, Taylor Dawson, Kendall Dawson, Tara Dawson Childers & husband Alex, Hunter Campbell and Summer Campbell; great great granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Dawson; and faithful canine companion, Noah.
There will be a private Graveside Service on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to “Mary’s Garden” at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 11093 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78250 or to Vitas Hospice.
