Mary "Margaret" Peters, 54, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2001 after passing away at her residence in Yorktown, VA. Margaret was born on October 19, 1947 in San Antonio, TX. Following graduation from San Antonio Junior College, she worked for the Air Force in San Antonio and later in Taiwan where she met her future husband. Margaret spent 25 years of her 26 years of marriage as an active duty Air Force wife, making a home for her husband and two sons at several duty locations in the States and overseas. She was a wonderfully loving wife and mother, with a spirited personality and an endless smile that brought joy to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her brother, Juan Jose Acevedo of San Antonio. Margaret is survived by her husband, Col. Ret Bob Peters; and her two sons, David Peters, both of Yorktown, VA and Martin Peters of West Point, NY. She also leaves her parents, Alberto and Felicita Acevedo of San Antonio; five brothers, Richard, Reinaldo, Albert, Peter, and Joseph Acevedo of San Antonio; and two sisters, Blanca Vela of San Antonio and Rosalinda Cushman of San Diego, CA; and many, many close friends and family members. Margaret was a faithful member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church and was employed by Dr. Michael W. Bower, DDS, in Grafton, VA for the last four years. The tremendous outcry of support from all of Margaret's and Bob's co-workers and friends during her illness was absolutely overwhelming and the family wishes to deeply thank all who shared their love in so many ways and cared so much for her. The family also wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Riverside Hospital and Portsmouth Naval Hospital for their loving care and support.
