Martin Rossett, Jr., age 89, passed away January 3, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Runge, Texas on December 11, 1931. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed. Mr. Rossett served in the US Army for 26 years where he was stationed in Germany, Korea, Fort Hood, and Fort Sam Houston where he retired as a 1st Sergeant. He served two tours in Viet Nam. He received his GED while serving in the Army and after his retirement he attended St. Phillips Junior College and only lacked one course to complete his two year degree before he began working for the U S Postal Service and retired after 14 years. After his second career retirement, Mr. Rossett volunteered with the Red Cross driving the shuttle at SAMMC for many years and for Meals on Wheels.
Mr. Rossett, is preceded in death by his father, Martin Rossett, Sr., brother Frank Rossett, mother Maria Albiar Rossett and sister, Margaret Rossett Kennedy. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lydia Palacios Rossett, daughter, Sylvia Rossett, daughter, Linda Rossett Stephens (Randy), daughter, Nancy Rossett Carlisle, daughter, Tammy Rossett Grimmett (Jacky), granddaughter, Carolyn Samano, grandson, Ryan Stephens, granddaughter, Christina Samano, grandson, Tyler Carlisle, granddaughter, Melissa Grimmett Yoste, grandson, Alex Grimmett, grandson, Reid Grimmett, great-grandson, Cole Samano, great-grandson, Nicholas Martinez, great-granddaughter Wolfie Samano-Quesada, nephews and nieces.
The graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Fort Sam National Cemetery (shelter #3) with full Army Honors. In lieu of flowers; contributions may be made to the Red Cross (SAMMC shuttle service) or Meals on Wheels in his honor.
