Marilyn was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on February 18, 1934 to her parents George Frederick Graham & Florence L. McNaughton Graham EnEarl. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Malcolm R. Dixon, Lt. Col. (Ret.) U.S. Army.
Marilyn is survived by daughter, Nancy Dixon Xiromamos of San Antonio; brother, Richard J. Graham of Mojave, CA; and nephew, Ricky Graham of Lodi, CA. She was also very close to her husband’s family, the Murrays of San Antonio. She will also be greatly missed by her companion kitty cat, KoKo Kalia.
Marilyn graduated from Thomas Edison High School, class of 1951. She received her Bachelor’s degree from South West Texas State University [renamed Texas State University] in San Marcos, Texas. She was an avid reader; lifelong Bridge player; enjoyed watching Jeopardy and was a qualified contestant in the early 1970’s; and loved watching the new Hawaii Five-O every Friday since she saw them film an episode on Waikiki Beach.
Marilyn loved the opportunity to travel with Malcolm in his military career. She lived in Michigan, Oklahoma, California, Japan, Okinawa, Germany, New Jersey, and Texas. They retired in San Antonio, TX in 1976. For the past several years, Marilyn and Nancy have enjoyed an annual trip to Hawaii to spend time with friends there in Honolulu. During these past years, she was an active member of Overseas Brats [OSB] where she was known as a Mom of a Brat because her daughter attended schools overseas in Asia and Europe. She adored the many friends she made with OSB and they adored her.
The family would like to thank all of the members of the medical teams who helped Marilyn live comfortably during her last days.
On Friday, February 23, 2024, 10:30 a.m., a Graveside Committal Service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery; Committal Shelter #4 where Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband Malcolm. A reception and celebration of Marilyn’s life will follow at Los Angeles Heights Presbyterian Church; 2002 W. Olmos, where Malcolm and Marilyn were married in 1951. Chaplain Bradley Kendall will be officiating the services.
Contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or to Humane Society of S.A. because she loved animals. She will be dearly missed by so many.
