Marie was always a bright light, even in high school at Alamo Heights. She studied Chemistry harder than the rest of us and her grades showed it. Later her talents turned toward the arts, and she made her beautiful mark there.

Marie was beautiful and very talented. I first met her in elementary school and she had a sparkle that made her stand out from others.Although I have not seen her in many years, I have always admired her. We will miss her greatly.

We just learned of Marie's death from Mimi, and we are saddened beyond words. Pic and Marie have always been atop our list of favorite people, and the times we spent in their warm and gracious company are among our happiest memories of San Antonio. We will be keeping all of you in our prayers.

I am so saddened to learn of Marie's passing. My deepest condolences to Pic, Mimi, and the entire family. I was privileged to know Marie and had deep affection and respect for her and Pic. She will be missed by all who were so fortunate to have known her. I really liked that she gave so much of herself toward making San Antonio an even better City. May her soul rest in peace.

My parents were friends of Marie's, many years ago. Ross and Louise Youngs in high school, her nickname was "Dopey" and her maiden name "Caldwell". For as much as I heard her name mentioned whenever they talked about the "good old days", I know that they were fast friends. Besides, they told me how she was a fine woman, a good friend, the kind of person who left part of herself in the souls of others. My condolences go out to you all. I'm sure my father would have attended the services, but he is the ICU in San Antonio as I write 8/25, recovering from surgery having to do with a blood clot. My mother died very early, back in 1981. To Marie's family, 
My most sincere condolences to Pic and all of Marie's family. She left way too soon. I met Marie during that period where she was laboring tirelessly to bring a work of art to our city in the form of a library. The Central Library today stands in the center of our city and is a jewel which should be named for Marie Swartz. In my view she will always be a courageous, visionary and a very good artist in her own right. I'm sorry that she is gone but there is no question she created a lasting legacy in San Antonio.
