Marie Estelle Standley Myers was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, great-GREAT-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She left this world on 21 July 2021 at the age of 100 years and 8 months.
She was born to Elbert Stone and Edna May Standley on 11 November 1920 in Freeport, TX. After graduating from high school in Freeport, Marie chased her dream of becoming a professional secretary by leaving her coastal community home and traveling to and attending secretarial school in downtown Dallas, Tx. After that, she reached her second major life's dream of becoming a wife and homemaker, when she married her husband, Collin Stafford Myers, Jr. Together, they had 4 children: Trey, Standley, Barry and Tim.
Marie loved so many things while on this earth. Atop of Marie's list would be three important things: her family, her church and her Lord and Savior. Oh, lest we forget, Marie loved to laugh! She loved spending time reading a good inspirational book, and especially reading and re-reading her favorite book, the Bible. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating meals for her family when the house was full. To Marie, it was not a holiday until all of her children, grandchildren, and the "great's" came to "MeMaw's" house and had food, heard a few stories from her, there had been lots of laughter, and of course heard her testimony of how God had blessed her life. With 100 years of living behind her, Marie had many stories to share and she loved doing just that. Most weekends you would find Marie at her church, Faith Outreach International, with her church family and friends.
Having now achieved her final life's goal of reaching heaven, Marie leaves behind on this earth 3 children, Trey, Barry and Tim, along with 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-GREAT-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a wealth of people she loved and counted as friends and her brother's and sister's in the Lord.
