Marie Annette Carter, age 66, passed away June 11, 2022 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Albany, New York on March 21, 1956 to Harold “Johnny” & Lucila “Lily” Johnson. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. She served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979, and was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.
She was married in 1982 to the love of her life, Michael Carter, with whom she raised two daughters. She was an active member in the Auxiliary for the National Association of Postal Supervisors, where she sat on the State and National Boards, holding numerous positions over the years. She loved to travel, craft, and spend time with family and friends all across the country. She was always the “room mom” for any activities her daughters were involved in, and an even more hands-on “Nana” to her five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Brenda Sisk, her mother-in- law Edie Carter, and her “adoptive” father Harry “Ted” Hann.
She is survived by her husband, her daughters Elizabeth Rivera & Lily Carter, her son in laws Anthony Rivera & Spencer Sanders, her five grandchildren Katalyna Rivera, Carter Rivera, Charlotte Rivera, Sage Sanders, Amira Sanders, her father- in- law Franklin Carter & her “adoptive” mother Jo Anne Hann, along with numerous other relatives.
The Memorial Service will be 12pm Noon, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Graveside Service will follow at 1:15pm at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where she will receive full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in Marie’s name.
