It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marian Gail (Taylor) Bullock Josephson who left us on December 19, 2024 at the age of 81. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Gail was born on September 15, 1943 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Emzy Lewis Taylor Jr. and Eula Mae Justice (Taylor) Bullock. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas, and continued her education at Texas Lutheran College where she met the love of her life, Don Lowell Josephson, from Elgin, Texas. Don and Gail were married on September 26, 1965 in San Antonio. Their marriage has always been full of love, laughter, and loyalty.
Gail lived a fulfilling life, devoted to serving and helping others. She worked at the South Texas Blood Bank and taught at local high schools, touching many lives along the way. At Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, she was a guiding light, enhancing the Christian education program, leading Bible studies, serving on the altar guild, and helping the church grow into a thriving place of worship. Gail also volunteered with St. Luke’s Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary and the American Red Cross, giving her time to support the wider community.
Gail enjoyed knitting, crochet, and needlepoint, creating beauty and warmth with every stitch. She often donated her work, including lapghans and baby blankets, and made special gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking treats for her loved ones, traveling the world, taking care of her plants, decorating her home for each season, and snuggling with her cats, Cookie and Mister Truffles, while watching Hallmark movies. Above all, she valued spending quality time with family and friends, always cherishing moments of connection and laughter.
Gail was often described as a source of positivity and inspiration, serving as a role model and offering thoughtful advice. She made everyone feel seen, valued, and as though they truly belonged. She saw God’s light in every person and dedicated her life to serving the Lord, living each day as one of His devoted disciples.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, Don; her children, Scott Josephson with his wife, Stacia, and Stephanie LeClair with her husband, John; her grandchildren, Austin Josephson, Zachary Josephson, Alison LeClair, and Jeremy LeClair; her sister, Linda Koch; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emzy Lewis Taylor Jr. and Eula Mae Justice (Taylor) Bullock, and her stepfather, R. H. “Dick” Bullock III.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on a later date at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gail’s life and share memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church (https://secure.myvanco.com/YJYN/home) in Gail’s memory.
Don, Scott, and Stephanie would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Cottages at Danny Kaye for the amazing care given to Gail in her final days.
Rest in peace, Marian Gail (Taylor) Bullock Josephson. You will forever be in our hearts.
