Our beloved, Maria Concepcion Torres, who lived a wonderful and fulfilling life, passed away at the age of 80 on May 20, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on December 9, 1943 in Castroville, Texas to Braulio Lascano and Marcelina Olivares Lascano.
Maria was a graduate of Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas and a Nursing graduate of Macon College in Macon, Georgia. She was a dedicated and nurturing wife, mother and nurse. Her love and passion for nursing led her to working with patients and families in Macon, GA, Warner Robins, GA., and here in San Antonio, TX with Santa Rosa Hospital.
She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends, especially all eight of her grandchildren. She loved traveling and taking vacations with her husband and children across the U.S. and many countries abroad, such as Spain, England, France, Italy and Croatia, among others. Maria, a devoted gardener, found solace and joy in nurturing her flower and fruit garden. She was full of life, so loving and always looking forward to what was to come. She will be deeply missed and always in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Braulio and Marcelina Lascano; her brothers, Braulio Lascano, Felipe Lascano, Reymundo Lascano, and Sylvester Lascano; in-laws, Ambrose Rymers, Rodolfo Elizondo, Josie Lascano, and Juan Rivera.
Maria is survived by her husband of 53 yrs, Abelardo Torres; children, Veronica Torres and fiancé Gabriel Ledesma, Abelardo Torres and wife Ekaterina, Vanessa Clear and husband David; grandchildren, Alejandro Norman, Maricela Norman, Isabella Clear, Marcus Clear, Gabriela Clear, Abelardo Torres, Anastasiya Torres, and Leonardo Torres; loving puppy, Hercules; siblings, Maria Elena Rymers, Candelario Lascano and wife Terry, Maria Guadalupe Elizondo, Johnny Lascano and wife Elida, Maurillo Lascano and wife Yolanda, Marcela Snow and husband David, Florinda Rivera, Geraldo Lascano; in-law Paula Lascano, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78240 with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #3.
