Maria Guadalupe was born on January 16, 1945, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Federico Mendoza Gaytan and Catalina Jurado Polanco. Maria Guadalupe was known as Lupita and Lupina, her nicknames for her closest friends and relatives. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her seven children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Widowed at a young age, she fought to raise and support her seven children with grace, dignity, and a lot of hard work. She loved art, writing, sewing, and stitching; and gifted many of her favorite people with her beautiful creations. Her daughters and granddaughters had the honor to learn from her cooking skills and will forever cherish the lessons.
Maria was preceded by her parents, Federico Mendoza Gaytan and Catalina Jurado Polanco, her beloved First Husband, Manuel Sosa Nieto and infant son, Federico Sosa Mendoza.
Survivors include her husband, Juan M. Contreras; her sons and daughters, Manuel Sosa Mendoza, Maria Guadalupe Ortiz Sosa, Maria Elena Gonzalez Sosa, Jose Ivan Sosa Mendoza, Dora Adriana Quintero, Rosa Lidia Sosa Harbison, and Silvia Sosa Lozano. Her sisters, Rosa Maria Valle, Dora Adriana Rodriguez, Irma Cadena, and Ana Lopez; 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren; and numerous relatives. Maria Guadalupe “Lupina” was very dear to our hearts and will forever live in the memories of her family and friends.
Pallbearers: Manuel Sosa Mendoza, Jose Ivan Sosa Mendoza, Raul Ortiz Acevedo, Jesus Salvador Gonzalez, Francis J Quintero, Jose Lozano Adame.
