Maria Isabel Hernandez

Maria was born to Juan Gil and Maria Isabel Lujan, on February 17, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the oldest sibling to 3 sisters and a brother. Maria was the center of our family and helped raise 3 generations.

She was a devoted mother to Enrique Jr., Candace, Estevan, and Cynthia. She was a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Dan Gil. We take comfort in knowing she has reunited with her parents and brother in heaven.

Maria loved being surrounded by her growing family, sharing laughs, and listening to oldies and cumbias. She taught each and every one of us so much about life and unconditional love. She left a lasting mark on all of our hearts and will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral will occur Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A reception will occur Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
