Maria Santa Gonzales

She is preceded in death by her parents, Celia Cardenas Hernandez & Rosendo Valdez.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ricardo Vela Gonzales; children, Rosemary V. Galinda (Sergio), Johnnie Vina Jr. (Maria), Richard Valdez Gonzales (Susan), Mary Alice Garza (Gabriel), Ercilia Lozano, Cheryl Lou Gonzales and Richard Vela Gonzales; siblings, Joe Valdez, Estella Vega, Biolinda Luna Valdez, Augustine C. Valdez and Jimmy Valdez; 5 half siblings; 5 step siblings; 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Maria is also survived by her extended family, Lucinda Avila, Adolfo & Janie Trevino, Dino & Angie Calbillo, Ezechiel & Sylvia Hernandez and their son, Ismael, Joe & Aurora Escamilla, Jose & Rosa Hernandez, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and customers.

Maria enjoyed to cook, especially her delicious tamales. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, gambling, traveling and dancing. She was very talented at making quilts and many of her family she blessed them with one. She was a woman of great faith and always prayed for the best for her family. She was known for helping many people and would share her words of advice.

A visitation for Maria will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, 78211 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sheltering Arms Full Gospel, 926 Steves Ave, 78210 with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd, 78239.
