old. Maria was born in San Antonio, TX on August 15, 1937 to Francisco Ramirez and Maria
Gonzales.
Maria dedicated much of her life to serving her country, working for and eventually retiring from
the Department of Defense after an impressive 38-year career. Her dedication and work ethic
were evident in everything she did, and she took immense pride in her service.
Maria’s home was always open, a place where her grandchildren could find refuge, love, and
understanding. Whether it was sharing stories, cooking family recipes (such as her awesome
Thanksgiving stuffing or the amazing beans she would make that always filled bellies as well as
hearts, or the rumballs that she is fondly remembered for by many), or simply being a listening
ear, she made each grandchild feel uniquely special.
She will live forever in the hearts of her two children, Sandra L. Flores and Mike R. Flores Jr.,
her eight grandchildren: Seleena Gutierrez, Ty Gutierrez, Marisol Flores, Ronnie Morales,
Michael Flores, Marisa Flores, Maribel Flores, and Maricela Flores, and her newest
great-grandchild, Mia Flores. All of whom were the light of her life.
Maria will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide us. We find comfort in knowing
that she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband Mike in heaven, and watching over
her loved ones from above.
