Maria Del Carmen Gamez

Maria del Carmen Gamez born July 20, 1925 in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico went to be with our Lord on November 23, 2017 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benigno & Francisca Najera; 8 siblings; beloved husband of 70 years, Luis Gamez; sons, Luis Antonio Gamez and Richard Gamez. She is survived by her son, Mario Gamez; daughters, Elia Martinez (George), Carmen Ingle (Edward), Hilda Roman (Tony), Rose Mary Elizalde (Javier); and daughter in law, Irma Gamez, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Maria loved plants and flowers. Even when caring for a husband and seven children, she took time to plant roses, fruit trees, and other plants to make her home welcoming and pleasant.

Maria was a virtuous woman, a woman of great faith. She was a prayer warrior. Throughout her life, she was part of several Catholic Church ministries and prayer groups first at Our Lady of Good Counsel and later at Holy Rosary. She instilled values such as faith, prayer, service and family unity in her sons and daughters and grandchildren. She loved to cook and on most Sundays, the family would gather at her home for breakfast. Her family was her pride and joy.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. San Antonio, Texas, 78237 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. On Friday, December 1, 2017 a mass of resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel at 10:00 a.m. with entombment to follow at San Fernando II Cemetery.
