She is preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Herrera and husband David Cantu.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Conkling and Deborah Jarmon (David), Son-in-Law Ramon Herrera. Grandsons Michael Cantu (Tara), Westley Walter (Tawnya), Levi Conkling (Norma), Dylan Conkling (Brittany), Elias Conkling (Bella), Ramon Herrera Jr., Eric Herrera. And 9 beautiful great-grand children.
She worked a full career in Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base. She enjoyed working and staying busy and began doing volunteer work as soon as she retired from the base. She then worked part time for 20 years at Northside Independent School District where she made many friends and was “Mom” to many of the teachers and staff she met along the way.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married to David, the love of her life, for 65 wonderful years.
There were many things that brought joy to her life which included going to dances and events with her husband David, shopping, gardening, playing bunco with friends, traveling and most of all spending time with family and lifelong friends.
No one was a stranger to her. She would say her hobby was collecting friends. She always had an ear to listen and a generous nature. A devoted wife and mother, she especially enjoyed time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
