She was born on March 26, 1931 in Bremond, Texas to Stella (Stephanie Knast) and John Krysinski. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 53 years Gustave (Gus) William Zimmerman.
She is survived by her sister, Sister Mary Irene of the Felician Order, three children, Joe Zimmerman, Sharon Spring and husband Tracy, John Zimmerman and wife Judy, four grand-children Taylor and Caitlin Spring, Michelle and Michael Zimmerman, and many relatives and numerous friends.
She was a graduate of Providence School of Nursing in Waco, Texas and later obtained a Masters degree from Texas State University. She worked as a registered RN in various hospitals in the San Antonio area and continued her career on the nursing staff at USAA, finally teaching for many years in the nursing program at St. Phillips College.
Krys was an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church for more than 50 years.
The family extends their deepest appreciation for all who are able to attend the services. They would also like to extend sincerest gratitude to the staff at Villa de San Antonio and Vitas Hospice Unit for there care and support.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road on Tuesday, February 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with a rosary service at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive on Wednesday, February 6th at 10:00am. A private burial will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Felician Order, 5518 King Richard Street, San Antonio, Texas 78229.
