Margaret Ramey Watkins passed away March 7, 2020. She was born January 29, 1924 at the Walter Reed Medical Center to the late B/Gen [MIA], Howard K and Martha Moore Ramey, Army Air Corps. She graduated at George School Newtown, PA, '42, attended U of PA '42 to '44. Married Capt. Miles H Watkins Feb '45 in Pendleton SC. Margaret was an outstanding lady, wife and mother. She raised two fine children and was always at home when they came home from school. Listening and providing guidance to their problems. Always a companion and a friend of her husband and their children. Margaret was the mainstay of the family when Lt. Col Watkins was away on business. "MOM" will be greatly missed by all that knew her! Margaret was quick to volunteer her services for a worthy cause. In 1999, she was honored for her 20 years as a docent at the Institute of Texan cultures! Margaret was a hereditary/ life member of the Order of Daedalians, life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband LTC (Ret) Miles Watkins.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by her daughter, Martha W. Head; son, M. Hunter Watkins, Jr. and his wife Becki; grandson, Miles H. Watkins III; great-grandchildren, Izzy and Nash; and sister, Betsy McKinney Morris.
The Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery (Shelter #3). The Memorial Service has been CANCELED at Blue Skies of Texas-East due to the current coronavirus impact.
