Margaret Lillian Breit Sauer, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the age of 79. Born in San Antonio, Texas, January 28, 1932 to Peter and Mary Ann Breit, Jr., she lived all of her life in San Antonio. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Incarnate Word College. In 1955, she married Clarence F. Sauer and had four children. For 29 years she taught 5th grade at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles School in Alamo Heights, influencing hundreds of children. In retirement, she didn’t stop teaching, she was a substitute teacher for the first 7 years. She gardened, cooked, read constantly and took many memorable trips to Port Aransas, Texas with her family. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, her parents, her older sister and brother-in-law. She is survived by daughter Dorothy Cantu, husband Daniel; son Robert Sauer, wife Debra; twin daughters Shirley Ogden, husband Randy; Sharon Schmidt, husband Gregory; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will held Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 5:30PM – 9:00PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Church, 111 Barilla. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Donations of books in Margaret’s name may be made to St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Elementary School Library.
