Meg was born in Moose Lake, MN to Rev. E. C. and Margaret Hallstein (née Luedtke) on January 4, 1936. Meg was 4 years old when she lost her mother and she and her siblings were raised by their stepmother Frieda Hallstein (née Hartwig). After graduating high school, Meg worked for Thermo King in Minneapolis, MN as the lead switchboard operator for 15 years. She was known as the “Voice of Thermo King”. Meg was promoted as the first woman Buyer and retired in 1993 after 33 years. During her working years, she would walk home each noon hour to spend time with her beloved dogs. She enjoyed many trips with her girlfriends, visiting Europe, travelling around the country, skiing, and golfing.
She married Anthony (Tony) Muscatell on December 22, 1990, in Minneapolis, MN. They later moved to Chandler, AZ. She participated in several service organizations and was very active in her church where she sang in the choir and enjoyed leading the Pioneer Girls.
After Tony’s death in 2003, she moved to San Antonio, TX to live with her sister Mary Steinke. They enjoyed time together with friends and family and were known as the M&M Sisters. She was very involved in her nieces’ and nephews’ lives who loved her dearly.
Meg was an avid sports fan supporting the Twins, Vikings, and later the Diamondbacks and Spurs.
Meg is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. E. C. and Margaret Hallstein, her stepmother Frieda Hallstein, brothers Charles, Luther, and Stephen (Heather) Hallstein, and husband, Tony Muscatell.
Meg is survived by her sister Mary Steinke and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 2, 2024, at Cross of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Universal City, TX with Rev. David Schneider officiating.
