Margaret was a strong, pioneering Texas woman. She graduated from Main Ave. High School in San Antonio. Afterward, at a time when most women worked in the home, Margaret was one of the first “Kelly Katies,” women who worked at Kelly Field during the WW II years. She went on to greater success with the Department of the Air Force, retiring from Kelly AFB in 1973 after 32 years of promotions and distinguished service, and where she was fondly nicknamed “Sunshine.” Margaret and Therman had success in the raising and racing of quarterhorses, and raced their horses at tracks all over Texas and the United States. Margaret was also an avid traveler, and loved going on cruises with her friends and gambling trips to Las Vegas and Elko, Nevada where she was known to have some success at the tables. She bowled on two teams until she was 93 and also played Bunco with her beloved Bunco buddies for many years. Margaret lived life to the fullest and loved to have a good time. She doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Mommo” and “Gigi.”
