Margaret Mary (Brown) McQueen, 90 of San Antonio, Texas was called home on March 19, 2011. She now rests with Jesus, her son, Barry and so many of her dear family and friends that have gone before her. Margaret was born on March 31, 1920 in Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada where she spent her youth and enjoyed her days as a part of the Jean Street Gang. On August 15, 1946, she married Harry McQueen, together they raised 5 sons and at the age of 67 she began a new chapter in her life and adopted her beloved grandson Philip. Margaret worked for several companies as a telephone operator ending her career in 1985 after 20 years of service for Frost Bank. She was a long time Parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, chairing several committees including the Parish Festival, and she always looked forward to her once a month Rosary Group where they would recite the Rosary and then take time for fun and fellowship. Although she lost her eyesight in the last several years, she never lost sight of her Faith and her devotion to Mother Mary.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harry; her sons, Patrick (Joy), Michael, Larry, David (Becki) and Philip (fiancée Aleksandra) all from San Antonio; her sisters Dorothy Kupper and Sr. Josepha IBBM of Canada; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
We all are comforted knowing Margaret was blessed with a long life and that she now is able to enjoy Bunko and Bingo with her friends in Heaven.
Visitation will be 6pm, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be 10 am, Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Catholic Charity.
