Margaret Frances Jones, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on April 7, 2013. She was born in Sterling, Colorado on February 13, 1918 to William Mabry and Florence King. She attended Sterling schools and Colorado University.
She married her high school sweetheart, Everett Jones, in 1940. After WWII they returned to Sterling where their three children were born. In 1961, the family moved to Texas, first to San Antonio and then to Austin where Ev passed away in 1974. After that, Fran returned to San Antonio. She was active in P.E.O. for 75 years and also worked for Montgomery Ward for many years.
Fran is survived by her sister Marian Bradley and her husband James; children Nancy Hammonds and her husband Vernon, Dr. Robert Jones and his wife Pamela, and Barbara Robinson and her husband Christopher; her grandchildren Greg Hammonds, Brian Hammonds and his wife Bethany, Amy Jones, Tim Jones, Scott Robinson and his wife Jen, and Matt Robinson; great-grandchildren Kate, Karoline, and Henley Hammonds; and nieces Marilyn Jackson and her husband Bob and Linda Springer and her husband Drew.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Hoan Pho for his compassionate care in the treatment of our mother. We would also like to express our gratitude to the staffs of New Forest Senior Living and Hamilton House Assisted Living for treating her with dignity and love.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:30PM at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, 6739 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, TX 78229. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Oak Hills Presbyterian Church or a charity of their choice.
