Margaret S. Anderson

Margaret Stoots Anderson went to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ her Savior, on 31 December 2013. She was born 7 October 1925, in Pulaski, Virginia, to the late Garnett Dewey and Willie Mae Stoots. Welcoming her into heaven’s gates is her husband of 65 years, Everett D. Anderson, and brothers and sisters Oscar and Eugene Stoots, Odine Banks, and Helen Dalton.

After living 81 years in Pulaski, Virginia, she and her husband moved to San Antonio, Texas in August 2006. When asked where she was from the reply was always quick, “Virginia”. She was proud of where she came from and joyful in the acknowledgement of where she was going.

She retired from Jefferson Mills at age 65. She won numerous accolades and awards for her 45 years of hard work and loyalty. She later worked with a local senior health care agency in Pulaski until age 81. She worked tirelessly and was generous, kind-hearted and dedicated to each client.

She attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and loved the teachings and music of the Hagee family, and always said after each service, “I’ve been to church”. She is a member of Hilltop Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pulaski.

In the San Antonio retirement community where she lived she was known for her kindness, quick wit and friendliness. She attended weekly Bible Study and had an avid thirst for understanding the Bible. She enjoyed the lively Bible discussions and loved to talk about the lessons from each study class.

She was extremely proud of her family and passed on updates and sweet stories to anyone who would listen. She often said her great-grandchildren were her great happiness. She loved receiving new photographs of them and proudly showed them to her friends. She was deeply loved and respected by her family. She was a lady of simple needs but one of beauty and grace. She was a loving and caring friend to each of her children.

She endured several years of physical pain from her numerous illnesses and formed friendships with each of her physicians. They admired her for her fortitude, friendliness and wit.

Loving and faithful daughters and sons surviving her are Shirley Anderson King and husband Jim of San Antonio, Texas; Sue Anderson McMillan of Lexington; Kentucky; Dorothy Anderson Pritchett of San Antonio, Texas; and Danny Michael Anderson, Sr. and wife Madeline of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Her cherished grandchildren are Stephanie King Novak, Travis Scott McMillan, Shawn Christopher King, Danny Michael Anderson, Jr. and Aaron Brent Anderson. Five great-grandchildren were her greatest joy; Katelyn Amber Sanchez, Ella Grace McMillan, Reece Anderson Sanchez, Jack Landon McMillan, Brody Everett King, and Layla Sue Anderson.

Also surviving her are sister, Emma Douglas of Snellville, Georgia, and two brothers, Stanley Stoots and wife Bobbie of Sebring, Florida, and William Stoots and wife Wanda of Pulaski, Virginia; sister-in-law Norma Stoots of Cloverdale, Virginia; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
