A beloved and very special man went home to the Lord on 12 February 2017 at the age 87. Manuel “Manny” Marin, Sergeant First Class U.S. Army, (retired). A member of “The Greatest Generation”. Born in Weslaco, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maria Elena (Helen). Survived daughter Mary Jane Marin-Fox and her husband Deacon Thomas (Tom) Fox. Sons: David Daniel Marin and Mark Michael Marin. Grandchildren: Krista Danielle Marin, Mark Michael Marin II of San Antonio and Zachary Lee Marin and his wife, Mary of Roundrock, Texas.
Manny chose the military life as his career - U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Army. His dream of seeing the world and experiencing various cultures came true when he had the opportunity serve in Europe, South America, the Orient, the Middle East and military posts in the U.S. After his retirement from the military, he took up a second career in Postal Service and Real Estate.
He dedicated his time to serve the Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th degree. He assisted Pilgrim Center of Hope in starting the Catholic Information Booth in terminal #2 at the San Antonio, TX International Airport where he served weekly for 17 years.
He was a very active member of the Serra Club of San Antonio, a Catholic organization that fosters to the priesthood and religious life; he served in various posts and became club president in 1998-1999. He was always helping his family, the sick, the homeless in Travis Park and especially the elderly. Manny and Helen traveled on five pilgrimages with the Pilgrim Center of Hope. He led the Rosary before Mass and served as an Usher in his parish, St. Mark the Evangelist Church.
The goals he set as a young man were fulfilled in his relationship with God and his family. He is highly respected and honored by his family as a wonderful father, a teacher, role model and gentleman. His strong faith in God inspired his family and others. Manny leaves a void in this world, but he fills a space in heaven. He will truly be missed.

Visitation on February 16; 5:00pm – 7:00pm followed by Rosary Service at 7:00pm. Mass on February 17 at 10:00am; both at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
