Uncle Verdell and Aunt Murle were frequent visitors to our house. They came to see my parents(JC and Joyce). Those were good times. They played the stereo, danced, had some drinks and had a lot of fun. I remember my dad and Uncle Verdell sitting at the kitchen table laughing so loud you could hear them several rooms away. As kids and teenagers,they entertained us! Uncle Verdell had a very contagious laugh. He was a kind and gentle person. Laid back and fun to have around. I can't say his name without mentioning Aunt Murle. I love them both. I cherish those happy memories. May God comfort all who are grieving his loss.

I can remember Uncle Verdell and my Grandpa JC Howerton meeting up for the bowling nights and that was a fun time.  In addition, we won't ever forget that Uncle Verdell and Aunt Murle traveled a long distance to offer their condolences in person when my mother Claire Howerton passed away. Very kind and compassionate.  Always in a fun and playful mood whenever we had the chance to see him over the years.  Rest in peace Uncle Verdell.

Verdell was one of my favorite cousins.  He had a heart of gold and was a wonderful, kind and gentle man. He always made me feel so special.  I will miss him so much.  My prayers go out to his beautiful wife, Murle and their children Linda and Kevin and all the family.  He is now an angel in Heaven and in a good place.  I like to think he is visitng with all the family that has gone on before him.  He is catching his Uncle Brown "Cotton" up on all the baseball news.

I have nothing but beautiful memories of my Uncle Verdell. We always loved it when he and Aunt Murle came to visit because we knew there was going to be lots of stories and lots of laughter. I am so grateful that he was able to spend most of his 94 years at home, with his sweet wife, and in good health. Aunt Murle, Linda and Kevin--you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know how much you will miss him and I hope it helps to know how very much he was loved.

From Barbara Rodriguez - My Husband Ray and I loved my Uncle Verdell very much. Uncle Verdell was so special, we think of him and laugh and cry, laugh because he was one of the funniest people we've ever known, and cry because he's no longer with us, but we love knowing he's in Heaven with God and all his beautiful family.  My Aunt Murle is also very special, they were a beautiful couple.  Our hearts go out to Aunt Murle, Linda and Kevin. Ray and I could always feel the love in their family.

I was heartbroken to hear I lost my birthday buddy, Nov 7.  I have thought of LV every shared birthday, and more,  since the '60's when I met him.
Murlene, Linda, Kevin and all the family, I am so sorry for your loss of this sweet man. 
SO comforting to know that he accepted Jesus as his savior and is now resting in peace in the arms of GOD. No more pain. No more sorrow. Just peace!

My parents didn't have a lot of friends but I know that they considered your folks as their "best friends".  As a child he seemed like a big man to me but soft spoken and I remember that he was always a hard worker. You know the saying "They just don't make 'em like that any more"?  Well that's how I remember your dad.  A man of honor and decency.  You all were blessed to have him for so long but I know he will be waiting for you all.  All my love and prayers.
