1933 to Angelita and Augustine Penalver in San Antonio, TX.
She took pride in her home, raising her children and later caring for her grandchildren. She was a
talented seamstress- often making clothing for her children. She loved to cook for her family and made
the best tortillas with butter fresh from the comal.
She was always ready for a gambling trip to Eagle Pass or Louisiana or up for a game of bingo. She had a
green thumb and could often be found tending to her “plantas”. She enjoyed Lifetime Movies and
novelas. The drama never stopped on her screen, Lupe was known for her brutal honesty which her
family learned to find endearing.
She was a tenacious and witty lady, unwavering in her opinions. She always provided tough love and was
not afraid to hurt your feelings to get a lesson across.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert M Garcia, son Michael and son-in-laws Deacon
Ernie Huizar and Alfredo Garcia. She is survived by her children Rose P. Garcia, Belinda G. Huizar, and
Gilbert P. Garcia, Jr (Ella); 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
