Luis D Flores entered into eternal rest on January23, 2016 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 91. Born on September 15, 1924 in Brownsville, TX, to Francisco and Refugia Flores; he now reunites with his parents; and wife, Rosa V. Flores. He is survived by his nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. Luis, lovingly known as “Uncle Louie”, was an avid Spurs fan. His presence at his favorite “hangout” spots, Chili’s on SE Military and S. Presa Ice House, will be missed by all the friendships he endured there. He proudly served during the WWII combat and was a recipient of: American Theatre Campaign Medal,Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze stars,Good Conduct Medal,and World War II Victory Medal; and was also a lifetime member of VFW post9186.. The family will be receiving guests at Roy Akers funeral home, 515 N. Main Ave., on Tuesday, February2, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:45 a.m. to celebrate at 12:30 Mass at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 125 Whittier.
