Lucia "Mita" "Lucy" Rojas

Lucia “Mita” “Lucy” Rojas, 71, went to be with the Lord on March 26th, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Valparaiso, Chile to Enrique Duarte and Marta Jara. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed.

Lucy grew up in Chile and moved to Hollywood, FL in 1985 with her two children. Despite the challenges in her life and moving to a new country, she had such a strong spirit, which helped her overcome every obstacle to provide a better way of life for her two children. She also lived in San Antonio, TX to be closer to family after she retired. Throughout the years she made many friends and touched many lives, by her hard working attitude, kindness and caring nature. She had a very inviting smile and a kind and loving heart. She enjoyed being around family, cooking and playing with her grandkids. She also loved to care for all her pets as she rescued many dogs and birds.

She is survived by her son Pablo Rojas of San Antonio, TX, her daughter Zarella Butler of Staten Island, NY, her two brothers, Sergio and Luis, her three grandchildren Steven, Josh and Seren. Also by Michaela and Elsie that were like her daughters, and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
