Lou Ann was born at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and was adopted by The Reverend Clifford Lee and Flossie May Moody soon after. She was reading the newspaper soon after she started school. She learned to play tennis at 12 years and golf at 14 years old. At 15 years she taught her 11-year-old brother John to drive a car. School was a breeze for her. During high school in the evenings, she would finish her homework and then read a paperback novel every day. While in high school she worked as a nurse’s aide in at the hospital in Hays Kansas.
After high school she attended college at Kansas Wesleyan university for 3 years and then joined the United States Air Force. After joining the Air Force, she earned her Bachelor’s degree at San Jose State University. During her 20 years in the Air Force, she rose to the rank of Major. After retiring from the Air Force, she found her second career teaching personnel management to military officers who supervised civilians. Her 40 plus year career provided the opportunity for travel all over the world and she enjoyed many wonderful experiences. She played golf throughout most of her life and even got a hole in one. She also loved playing poker. Lou Ann ultimately chose San Antonio, Texas as the place she wanted to spend the rest of her life. She was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs and the San Francisco 49ers.
Her younger sister Linda Townsend also lived in San Antonio and they had a close relationship until Linda passed away in January 2020. Lou is survived by her best friend of over 50 years Patty Sinclair. She is survived by her brother John Moody (Joyce), nephews Jason Townsend (Kathy, Lucas, Gavin) and Tadashi Moody (Suzi, Shimoyama, Kiyomi) and nieces Natalie Townsend (Darren, Adeline) and Mieko Van Kirk. We loved her and will miss her.
