Lois H. Wallis passed from this life on September 2, 2022 at her home in San Marcos, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born in Hueysville, Kentucky to Milton and Nora Howard on December 30, 1928. Married on July 14, 1946 to her one and only true love, Eugene Wallis, she raised her family in Borger, Texas. Upon the passing of her husband of 53 years, she wanted to be closer to her family and spent the remainder of her time in San Marcos, Texas.
Lois was an amazing cook and made new and delicious recipes. Her baking was legendary, and she made hundreds of decorated birthday and specialty cakes. She made candy and ‘goodies’ for all the holidays, and was renowned for all of her efforts in the kitchen. She was proud to live in the great State of Texas, delighting in the bluebonnets and hummingbirds every spring. She enjoyed listening to music, and danced like no one was watching.
She roamed the Mojave Desert with her brother, seeing and photographing the unique flowers and plants. She saw beauty in the simplest things.
Lois was the family historian, and knew just about every fact and event that ever occurred. She loved pictures and took thousands of photos for her family albums.
She was ‘mom’ or ‘granny’ to all those that knew and loved her. Mom always had a smile, a laugh, and a kind and gentle nature. She worked hard and loved life. One of her favorite sayings was “bloom where you are planted”, and we are all blessed that she did.
Lois is survived by her son Terry L. Wallis and his wife Loretta, of San Antonio; daughter Angie G. Coleman and granddaughter Elliette C. Coleman, of San Marcos; and brother Larry D. Howard of Mojave, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wallis, son Steven L. Wallis, daughter Kelly J. Wallis, and her two sisters Ina Speegle and Carol Ivey.
The Visitation will be 9:00 AM, Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel in San Antonio, Texas, with the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
